Can players advance initiative to the next person in line or is it only the dm that can do that?. The reason i ask is because the way my group plays using virtual tabletops is for the game to be left on permanently, players log in when they want "leave" thier turn and the dm processes at the earliest opportunity (much like play by mail), obviously during initiative its important that i can keep the turns flowing, in klooge players can advance initiative themselves, once it goes to a "monster" or npc they cant advance it and i have to, i am looking for similar functionality.

Can "notes" be put on a map. Ie if you have a town map can notes be attached to various buildings that the players can then click on to read. We have this facility in klooge and find it very usefull

Can d20 pro be left on permanently, so that player can log in whenever they want without problem. My group is currently using Klooge, and whilst it is a great program, the problem we are having is "flaky" internet connections, ie, sometimes players get a java "socket reset error" and cant log in. It is imperative for my group that connections are stable.

How do you create a player handout. For example, a map fragment/scroll with writting on or such, for the players to see.

I'm really interested in using d20 Pro, but is there a Mac OS X version? If not, is one planned?

There is a download here: http://d20pro.com/downloads.php for Mac/Linux. This is just a folder that you save to your desktop. Instructions for use are in the readme file.

Hello there, I'm new here, just starting playing with D20Pro and.. well, it seems curious that I have to copy my 2Gb media library into my program files directory to be able to use them in D20Pro - or I have to decide exactly which ones I want to use beforehand - but either way, I don't want a load of media on my system drive :^)
Surely there's some way to specify other folders to be listed in the image chooser...
Thanks for any advice/info
Chris

Currently there is not, but that's being built into our next major release. However, you could pick and choose files as you mentioned while the program is still running and place them into your folder. There is a button that allows you to recheck the image folders for new content without restarting the program.

Hello there, I've just created a troll and a fighter and am just trying to work through a combat - Troll's speed is 30 and reach is 10 so I start them 100' apart and start combat, initiative happens, troll is top of the list.
I move the troll 70' towards the fighter (shouldn't it stop me at 30 or 60 ?) and then attach with a melee claw at 30' and it lets me - am I missing something ? - what about the reach of 10 ?
Thanks for any help !

Actually, d20pro doesn't stop you at all and doesn't enforce any rules for that matter. That's intentional, actually. d20pro is meant to be a tabletop aid - not a game in itself. There is a balance between adding automated processes and taking away player freedom. For example, what if your troll had a feat that allowed it to extend it's reach for Attacks of Opportunity? What if it was currently stunned? What if the DM ruled that it didn't notice the player? We wanted the system to allow anything because house rules, circumstances, and other factors like custom feats and magic could bend or break those rules any time. It is up to you and the DM to maintain rules integrity and adjudicate things like movement, reach, AoO, etc. The DM can simply move you back, type or say "STOP" and evoke the rule - just like at the table. Otherwise, we would be coding endless scenarios and never fully cover everything that can happen at the table. We hope that this free-form style of play is better for your game in the long run.

Hiyah. Yes, I'm dancing around whoring my sight a little...But...you might actually be interested because it's about RPG Fantasy maps. Come take a look ...but only if you really want to. www.mapiwiki.wetpaint.com I hate it when people drop completely unrelated crap on my wikis...but this really is related to RP Gaming. Thanks.
