Entering Initiative
There are three ways to move creatures into or out of combat.
Once you have created the creatures, maps, items, etc for you campaign, you are now ready to run your adventure.
- Click on the “maps” button to open the maps library and select the first map. Do this by clicking on the arrow of the desired map. The map will open in the gaming window.
- Click on the “creatures” button to open the creature library and begin choosing which creature you will be using. Select the first creature and drag that creature to the desired location on the map. If you will be using the same creature multiple times, you can simply copy that creature several times from the map. It is not necessary to drag the same creature from the library again. If there will be different creatures on the map, continue selecting the desired creatures until finished.
- All creatures enter the map as shown, if the creature needs to be hidden, you must right-click on the creature, select alter, then select hide.
- Also, all maps, by default, start out as completely shown. You must select the “fog of war” button and hide the desired area of the map.
- Place any items on the map necessary and choose if they are to be hidden as well.
- Place the party on the map in the same manner as the creatures were placed.
- Right click on one of the party members, choose extended, owner, and assign the corresponding creature to the proper player. If all or some of the players are using the same computer, you can “CTRL” click to multi-select all of the desired creatures. Follow the directions above to assign the proper creatures to the proper players.
You are now ready to begin gaming!
Initiative Rounds:
The party will be in “Free” mode by default. Once you decide to begin the initiative round, you must select the “Init” button and choose to roll a new initiative.
- A new window will open and allow the DM to alter any initiative rolls, if necessary, if not, select the green arrow and begin.
- The creature at the top left of the creature window and highlighted on the map with arrows around it, goes first.
- The DM / Player in control of the active creature is up…
- To move, left-click on the icon for that creature on the map and drag it to the desired location.
- To attack, right-click on the creature, select attack, choose the desired attack, and left-click on the creature to be attack. ***NOTE*** If there is more than one attack, make sure to click for each attack.
- Once the creature who is up in initiative is done, select the “done” button or hit F9
- The next creature up in initiative will move up to the top of the creature window
- Repeat steps 3-7 as necessary.
- Once combat is completed or initiative round is over, choose the “Free” button or hit F10.
- The PC’s and NPC’s can move freely now.
Entering Initiative
There are three ways to move creatures into or out of combat.
- First, you can use their portrait in the Initiative pane - just click on the up or down arrow that appears in the top-left corner when you hover over creature portraits.
- The second method is by using the right-click menu. This method is advantageous when you are trying to move multiple creatures into initiative. Just select the group, right-click on one of the members, and choose Alter >> Initiative >> Enter Initiative.
- Last, and probably easiest, is to use the keyboard shortcut, i (to enter initiative) and ALT+ i (to leave initiative). This works with single or group selections.
