Character Creation
Step 1:
Step 2 - The General Page of the Character Sheet:
Note: you can use the “tab” button to move through character sheet
Step 3 - Attacks:
Step 4 – Feats:
1. Click on the “Feats” tab at the bottom of the character sheet
2. Double click on selected feats to move them to the active window
3. Or you can “CTRL” click several feats and then choose the arrow pointing right to move to active window
Step 5 – Skills:
Step 6 – Items:
Note: Items are created in another area of the software; this is for selecting already existing items
Note: Any items dropped on a map, will stay in the location dropped and show on that map.
Step 7 - Spells:
Note: If creature is unable to cast spells because of character class and / or level, the software will not allow spells to be added. The amount of spells allowed is calculated by class and ability modifiers applicable. Edit spell lists, choose spells known, rest if necessary to replenish spell list
Wizard Spells:
Cleric Spells:
These spells work similarly to that of a wizard. The difference would be that the spells are already determined, only the selection process of which spell to be memorized for the day must be made.
Bard:
Bards work like the wizard, except how the amount of spells allowed per day are tracked. This plays no significant role in spell selection though.
Druid, Paladin, and Ranger:
Work like the wizard.
Sorcerer:
Sorcerers work like the bard.
Step 7 – Description: In this area feel free to type anything you may choose, however this can be seen by other players. This is a description of what the created creature looks like.
Step 8 – Notes: This is the catch all. Unfortunately d20pro does not account for everything that your imagination may come up with…yet!
You have created a character, congratulations. Game on!!!
Step 1:
- click on the “Creatures” button in lower right corner of screen
- This will open a new window on the right hand portion of the screen
- click on “create” in lower left of new window
- this will create an “unknown” creature inside of the creature window
- double click on creature, this opens up the “character sheet” for selected creature
Step 2 - The General Page of the Character Sheet:
Note: you can use the “tab” button to move through character sheet
- Enter name chosen for the new creature
- Enter module – optional - (you can classify creatures by campaign, mod, etc)
- Team – click on arrow and choose neutral, party, ally, enemy, etc (note – this can be changed during play)
- Choose size, space, and reach of creature
- Enter in speed
- Enter in Hit Dice
- Choose type
- Enter in hit points
- Enter all saving throws
- Armor class – Dex and Size are handled inside of the software, additional information needs to be entered manually. Reveal what each box tracks by mousing over the boxes in questions (i.e. – armor, shield, dex, size, natural, deflect, and enhancement).
- Click on the “10” in the STR window
- Continue to enter in the rest of the creature’s ability scores by “tabbing” through
- Click on the drop down window of the classes – “Aberration” is default
- Select the class of your choice and click the add button
- If level adjustment is necessary, click inside of the level window and choose desired level
- If the created creature has Damage Reduction, click on “none” next to the “DR” below the “AC” area and next to the “Classes” area.
- Check the damage reduction box
- Enter the damage reduction amount and additional data if necessary.
Step 3 - Attacks:
- Click on the “Attacks” tab at the bottom of the character sheet
- Click on the “create” button at the bottom of the attack screen
- Double click on the “to hit” window to add any additional modifiers (**NOTE** only add magic bonuses, the software accounts for level of character and ability modifiers)
- Double click on name window and type in the name of the attack
- Double click on the damage window and enter in die type for each required field (**NOTE** only add magic bonuses, the software accounts for level of character and ability modifiers)
- Choose type of damage attack is by clicking on “bashing” and choosing correct type
- If an additional damage type is necessary, select the “create” button to the right
- If an additional damage die is required, select the “create” button below
- Double click on crit window and choose number and multiplier of critical hit
- Double click on type window and choose attack type
- Double click on +6/+1 window if necessary
- Choose style (1 handed, 2 handed, or off-handed)
- The “1,2,3,4 & 5” buttons can be double clicked to have more than one attack be rolled at the same time in game play. The multiple attacks will coincide with the selected color. (i.e. – A high level 2 weapon fighter may have 4 attacks per round. Once all of these attacks are entered, “red” can be chosen as the “Full Attack” button, saving time).
Step 4 – Feats:
1. Click on the “Feats” tab at the bottom of the character sheet
2. Double click on selected feats to move them to the active window
3. Or you can “CTRL” click several feats and then choose the arrow pointing right to move to active window
Step 5 – Skills:
- Click on the “Skills” tab at the bottom of the character sheet
- Click on the “add” button
- Hold “CTRL” and click on each skill to add
- Once all the skills for this creature are selected, click inside the “rank” window in order to add ranks in each skill
- If there are any miscellaneous modifiers to add click inside misc window and choose mods (inside this window negative numbers may be selected)
- d20pro handles the ability mods
Step 6 – Items:
Note: Items are created in another area of the software; this is for selecting already existing items
- Click on the “Items” tab at the bottom of the character sheet
- Click the “Add” button at the bottom of the item screen
- Select the item in the new window
- Click green “ok” button
- To Drop or Destroy and item, select the item, then click the appropriate tab
Note: Any items dropped on a map, will stay in the location dropped and show on that map.

- choose the spells known tab
- double click on each spell known
- once completed spells known, select the spells memorized tab
- click on each line and select the spell to be memorized for usage
- click green check when done
- this will take you back to character sheet
- click the “rest” button to see spells and be able to use spells
